TL;DR: On November 3, 2026, Air Tahiti Nui said it has signed an agreement with SpaceX to put Starlink Wi-Fi on its whole Boeing 787-9 fleet. The airline says the service will be free in every cabin and is expected on board in 2027, with no finish date given. Starlink's own account confirmed that passengers and crew will "soon" get Starlink from gate to gate.

What was announced

Air Tahiti Nui, the airline based in Papeete, French Polynesia, announced the deal on November 3, 2026. In its words, the airline and SpaceX "have signed an agreement to equip our entire Boeing 787-9 fleet with Starlink Wi-Fi."

The Starlink account on X followed the same day. It said that "soon, passengers and crew onboard @AirTahitiNui can access Starlink's high-speed, low-latency internet from gate to gate." That post is the official confirmation that the deal exists. The details below come from the airline.

What the airline says passengers get

  • Free Wi-Fi in all travel classes.
  • Connection from takeoff to landing, including over oceans and near the poles.
  • Latency of about 25 to 30 milliseconds.
  • A rollout that the airline expects to start in 2027. It did not publish a date for finishing.

Why this one is interesting

Air Tahiti Nui flies long routes over the Pacific, where older in-flight internet has often been slow or patchy. Starlink uses its own low Earth orbit satellites, so the same constellation that SpaceX launches on Falcon 9 regularly is what an airline plane connects to.

One Mile at a Time reports that the airline's fleet is four Boeing 787-9 aircraft and that it currently sells Wi-Fi on a data-based price list. That count and the current pricing come from that outlet, not from the airline's announcement, so treat them as reported.

What we don't know yet

The airline has not said which flights get Starlink first, how long installation will take per aircraft, or whether free access has any limits. We will update this page if SpaceX or the airline adds details.
